The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has awarded the Gold Award for Medical Excellence to Dr. Mourad Ghrairi, Director of the FIFA Medical Centre in Dubai, in recognition of his contribution to football medicine.
Dr. Ghrairi was among leading team doctors and physiotherapists from across Asia honoured at the fourth edition of the AFC Medical Awards, held on the sidelines of the AFC Sports Medicine Conference in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur july 2025.
The awards recognise medical professionals for their dedication and expertise in providing optimal treatment and support to ensure peak performance and player welfare in football.
Dr. Ghrairi was selected in acknowledgment of a career spanning more than 30 years in football medicine. He currently serves as Vice President of the European Society of Sports Medicine, is a member of the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS), and works as an
international lecturer. He has previously served as team doctor for several clubs and national teams.
Dr. Ghrairi has also contributed to the development and mentoring of medical staff across Asian national teams, as part of the AFC President’s programme aimed at advancing football medicine standards across the continent.
